Scope:

Look at what it would take to eliminate the need for the Metro Cards by adding a second chip to the Sun Card. This second chip would have to be compatible with the 13.56 MHz ICLASS chip already on the card which is used by the Isacc system, Maroon and Gold as well as Pharos.

All Milestones and Schedule:

Initial Meeting - October 24, 2008
Followup conference call - October 29, 2008
Shipment of Test cards to HBE - Novemeber 6, 2008 (These cards will be configured with ASU's profile)
Testing of Dual Chip Cards by UTO and HBE - November 13, 2008 (Verify there are no collisons on the card)
Send verified cards to City of Phoenix for MiFare chip encoding - Novemeber 20, 2008
Testing of Dual Chips after MiFare encoding at ASU - November 27, 2008
Testing of Dual Chips by Valley Metro - Week of December 8, 2009
Drafting of a test plan - January 12, 2009 (Theresa Fletcher - Transit and Chris and Laura all other areas)
Compile results and meet - January 23, 2009
Order 50 test cards and define the test group. - January 2009

While we are looking at the functionality of the dual chip card, UBS will need to look at the additional cost of the cards as well as the funding source.

If this project results in dual chip capabilities and is accepted as a direction the University chooses to go, we will need to initiate a Phase 2 to address the Business processes behind the issuance of these new cards.

Deliverables:

A single card , Sun Card, with ICLASS and MiFare capabilities.

Risk & Threats:

As we were moving into the Beta testing phase we were informed by HID that the card we would be testing would be a little different in formation from the cards we would use in production.
I emailed and left a message for Brett St. Pierre voicing our concern over the formatting changes. I am waiting for Sam Wheeler to confirm a go no go given this new direction.

It was agreed upon that this project should be rebaselined for deployment March 2010.
HID is in the throws of changing the design of their current cards and at this time are unsure of an availability date. As we cannot guarantee a stellar product for deployment during the 2009 Orientation Sessions, UBS (Sam Wheeler) asked the project be delayed to March 2010.
