Proof-of-Concept and testing was developed in .NET.  The final production version is being converted to Java.

The purpose of this project is to develop an interface for Departmental IT administrators to administer MAC (Media Access Control) address management. 

This includes automatic removal of inactive MAC addresses after 180 days from the CSA filter environment.  The remaining requirements are listed int he deliverables section below.

Deliverables: 

Requirements defined as:

  1. Associate MAC addresses with a defined group

  2. Allow granular user access rights

  3. Ability to deny access to the network *

  4. Ability to add and remove MAC addresses

  5. Track who registered or deleted MAC address (date stamped log)

  6. Ability to sub-group MAC addresses

  7. Alert to the support group that a MAC address will be removed because of inactivity with the items listed in the additional details list.

  8. Ability to create reports (extensive export options) - list of options needs to be created

  9. Ability to sort data

10. Property control tag (Asset tag) field

11. Get additional information for the MAC address (SPAZ):

- Current IP address

- DNS name

- Last used date

- Lease expiration date (180 days) *

- Where currently connected on the network.

- Ability to extend lease if machine has not been on the network *

- Additional free form departmental information (1000 characters)

 

 

Risk & Threats: 

Potential upgrade of Cisco Clean Access hardware - if this occurs, the implementation of this application will be pushed back.
