Summary: 

The purpose of this project is to move ETS/SOD servers from Fulton Center to the ISTB1 Data Center creating an enterprise level of service. 

The following benefits will be realized:

  • Reduce network complexity
  • Reduce dependency - currently there are two locations
  • Simplify troubleshooting
  • Increase performance - spindles will "run" faster
  • Increase power protection with 3 hours of backup power available
  • No change in equipment

Scope: 

Coordinate the relocation of ETS / SOD servers from Fulton Center to ISTB1. This will require installing infrastructure in ISTB1 to include cable tray, networking hardware and power.

All Milestones and Schedule: 

Discovery phase:

  • Determine network infrastructure -- Completed.
  • Determine storage needs - Completed.
  • Document all existing connections to include VLAN and IP addresses (As-Is) -- Completed.
  • Determine location and cage requirement in ISTB1 -- Completed.
  • Detail various options for solution with pricing to install power, racks, switches, fiber, etc. -- Completed.
  • Evaluate options for solution -- Completed.
  • Select option -- Completed.
  • Develop budget -- Completed.
  • Approve budget  -- Completed.

Design Phase:

  • Design/Engineer solution -- Completed.
  • Document (To-Be) as designed -- Completed.
  • Approve Design -- Completed.

Installation phase:

  • Order equipment -- Completed.
  • Receive equipment -- Completed.
  • Install equipment in Data Center --Completed.
  • Phase 1: Move Poly Chassis/Blades/VMs --Completed.
  • Phase 2: Move ETS Chassis/Blades/VMs from Fulton Center -- Completed.
  • Phase 3: Move LIB Chassis/Blades/VMs  --Completed.
  • Phase 4: SOD Team to advise what VLANs need to move from GWC to ISTB1 -- Completed.
  • Phase 5: Move VLAN Subnets  from GWC to ISTB1. -- 8/07/2009 -- Completed.
