eAdvisor: Course Catalog v 3.0

Quick View
Summary:

Make course catalog search more visible. Combine returned results to see class availability by term if not selected. Provide alternative ways to browse a list of courses verses searching for a course. Searching for a course assumes the student knows the class they want. In some cases students want to see what the course options are available.

Scope:
  • Modify class schedule to pull the searchable term list from Peoplesoft. That way when a term is enabled in PS Class Search, it will be enabled in Catalog.
  • Handle when PS is inaccessible, admin page for setting of config variables, authenticator string removal, etc.
  • Add buttons show next to classes, regardless if logged in or not. When the add button is clicked, if student is not logged in they will be prompted to sign in.
  • Search catalog without having to enter term
  • Make catalog search option more visible to the user
  • Catalog: if the course is active list the terms into the future it is aviablable. If it is not available, list the term as not available.
  • Course that is offered on multiple campus. If all the data sets (requirements) are the same but only campus is different, only list one class with multiple campuses seprated by commas
  • Searching by A - Z in advanced search - on the schedule and course catalog
  • Select the career of course
  • Web service
  • Give additional options for a customized schedule and catlog URL for department web pages
  • Allow students to browse through our course list instead of doing search after search after search by Subject (ENG). At a minimum, we should have a page that lists all the Subjects and their descriptions (ENG - English, HST - History).. and when clicked, does a search for that subject.
  • Related classes such as lab and lecture, group in the results so students know what there true options are. Students understand that some classes have related components
