Scope: 

Upgrade cabling, Etherswitch hardware, and telephones at ASUW to provide converged Gigabit voice and data services over the IP Network.

Outside of Scope:

  • upgrade of inactive or unused Ethernet 
  • replacement of Wireless Access Points
  • Upgrade of 10/100Mb Etherswitches in Las Casas Residence Hall
All Milestones and Schedule: 
  • Analyze active CAT3 that have not been used in past 6 months - Completed.
  • Coordinate ISAAC and key access for Techs and Contractor. - Completed.
  • Coorindate  & authorize space for contractor and technician  staging of material. - Completed.
  • Upgrade active CAT3 Ethernet cabling to CAT6.  -In Progress - 09/24/2009 thru 12/11/2009.
    • Central Services Complex - 9/24/2009 thru 10/2/2009.
    • Central Plant - 10/1/2009 thru 10/1/2009.
    • Sands/CLRM buildings - 10/1/2009 thru 10/6/2009.
    • Classrooms/Labs/Computing Sites - 10/01/2009 thru 11/2/2009.
    • FAB - 10/22/2009 thru 11/24/2009.
    • University Center buildings - 11/3/2009 thru 12/11/2009.
  • Upgrade all non-Residence Hall Etherswitches to Gigabit
  • Upgrade all Etherswitch uplinks to Gigabit on fiber
  • Replace office, lab, classroom analog and digital telephone handsets with Cisco VoIP
  • Migrate all firealarm, building control, Hallway courtesy, and emergency call box phone lines to Cisco VoIP system thru analog convertors.
  • Retire and remove ASUW Avaya switch from service.

Keeping costs within Network Communications Managed Services Capital Expenses budget.
Performing construction type of work in actively occupied buildings without disrupting occupants or production network.
