Scope:
Project Summary
This fall, the University Technology Office (UTO) at Arizona State University (ASU) will launch the unique and innovative Time Capsule Project in collaboration with a small but diverse group of freshmen. Students from all four campuses will represent “one university in many places”.
The class of 2013 lives in an emerging technological world that is always-on, always-connected and rapidly changing. The future success of ASU students will depend on their ability to use cooperative, collaborative tools.
Time Capsule students will engage in a journey that captures their ASU educational experience over the next four years. In cooperation with ASU’s vendor partners, participating students will be equipped with the latest technology and teamed up with their own personal mentor from UTO.
Project Goals
ASU’s success as a university is measured by the success of our students. UTO believes that technology plays a key role in student success. Expected outcomes include:
- To better understand how students use technology
- To enable students to use technology to achieve maximum benefit
- To evaluate the effect of technology on the student experience
- To determine how to leverage the university’s technology resources to the broader student community.
Project Experience
Participating students will communicate their on-going experience using online tools such as blogs, podcasting via ASU iTunes U, photography and video, and in the process, will create a “social networking” environment open to the entire ASU community.
