Scope:
Scope of this project: To develop an access point for university constitutents to request information about server consolidation, get cost proposal and ultimately paticipate in the ASU UTO server consolidation services. This Web Site will supply the necessry information and allow interested parties to begin the process to meet their server consolidation needs.
The ASU UTO Server Consolidation Services encompass the following:
A critical component of supporting Arizona State University as the New American University is providing necessary data storage to all constituents and consumers: students, faculty, staff, departments, and researchers.
To be successful, this offering must:
- Be easily accessible to its consumers
- Be manageable by UTO staff
- Be backed up and secure
- Be provisioned rapidly and reliably
- Deliver performance acceptable to its consumers
- Be cost effective compared with similar solutions
To meet these growing needs, UTO is providing to its users a shared storage model, delivered as a service in which consumers "sign up" for either a one year (1) or a five year commitment. The storage service delivered to the customer includes 2 or more TB's of data storage at a fixed cost for the selected time period.
If there are special requirements for the required storage - unusually high performance needs, data encryption, physical isolation from other data, etc. - they will be accommodated on a per-case basis by leveraging additional technologies within the current storage infrastructure.
