Scope:

The APPO database, on Sybase, is the master source for ASU email
addresses. The database is updated using stored procedures, direct SQL
and a thin JAVA API that calls the stored procedures. This project
would do the following:

  1. Migrate email addresses from APPO to EDNA
  2. Update existing EPO Update client
  3. Rewrite Java API to enforce rules currently documented only in the stored procedure
  4. Rewrite software that updates EPO routing tables

This project is necessary because:

  1. Electronic identity is being mastered in EDNA and APPO. The
synchronization between these two systems has caused issues in the past.
  2. The client that is used to update the EPO is dependant on the Affiliate database which is being retired.
  3. The database currently sits on a Sybase server, which the UTO would like to retire.

The following are consequences if the project is not done:

  1. UTO will have one more legacy system to support
  2. Synchronization will need to be maintained
  3. The EPO Update client will still need to be updated to not use Affiliate.
