The IBM web application - Websphere 5.1 is no longer supported by IBM as of end of Sept 2008. There are still 25 applications are running on this web application platform. This project is to migrate those applications to Tomcat, as first priority, or Websphere 6.0 infrastructure. Both Tomcat and Websphere 6 infrastructure are in production.

  • Identify the customers and "owner" of each websphere 5 application (total 25 applications)
  • Verify whether those applications are still in use
  • Decision on target platform, Tomcat or Websphere 6
  • Make proper change to the application and tested.
  • Go through normal migration process to production for each application.
Deliverables: 
  • Phase out the websphere infrastructure, both hardware and software.
  • Potential saving on annual Websphere software maintenance.
Risk & Threats: 

All 25 applications may be endangers of availability and stability if we don't migrate.

Automate business processes that are currently handled manually in the transfer transcript evaluation process by the ASU Transfer Admissions and Readmissions offices.
One goal of fully automating the transfer evaluation process is to provide students and advisors with accurately evaluated transfer transcripts within 24 hours of receipt.
Priority will be given to the needs of continuing students with transfer work from the Maricopa Community College system, but automated solutions that will positively impact all ASU transfer student cohorts will be sought.
