FA: Online Distributed Scholarship Posting

Scholarship flow.jpg
Quick View
Summary:

The scholarships office (part of Student Financial Assistance Office) currently processes departmental and foundation scholarships by receiving paper Scholarship Award Authorization (SAA) forms that have been signed by departmental representatives. These are then reviewed one-by-one by scholarship staff and manually posted. This modification would allow departmental staff members to enter these awards themselves, have them approved by the appropriate departmental business managers and deans, and then posted in batch as financial aid awards.

The scope of the project is the implementation of the Qualys Vulnerability Management Tools at ASU. Vulnerability management is a critical component of any security infrastructure because it enables proactive detection and remediation of security vulnerabilities. Security professionals that use vulnerability management tools are able to correct weaknesses before they are exploited and no longer rely solely on defensive security measures to protect themselves.

All Milestones and Schedule:
  • Receive Hardware from Qualys vendor -- Completed
  • Installation into ASU network: -- Completed
    • Old Main

Citrix: Program Neighborhood for Common Computing Classrooms

citrixprogramneighborhood.jpg
Quick View
Summary:

User experience in the Common Computing Classrooms for faculty and student is key to success for classroom support and the centrally run application technology.  The ease to which faculty/students are able to run the centrally run applications within a classroom situation and time constraints, the easier the transition to new technology.

Citrix client Program Neighborhood allows direct access from the local computer to the Citrx servers.  The end user notices very little is different between a locally run application and a centrally run application.  Double clicking of documents will automatically open the application that is required no matter when the application is actually run from.  This will greatly improve the user satisfaction of the centrally managed applications.

Start Date:
October 27, 2008
Go Live:

Help Center Version 2

Mockup1.JPG
Quick View
Summary:

Several ASU organizations have expressed interest in sharing content on the Help Center when automated federation is possible. The ability to assign multiple categories to articles will increase the "hits" on those articles - increasing use and readership.

The goal of this project is to enhance the functionality of the Help Center so that:

  • Use of the Help Center will increase across the ASU community.
  • Other ASU organizations will see the value in publishing information to the Help Center.
  • More ASU organizations will partner with the Help Center to publish their articles.

Start Date:
October 21, 2008
Go Live:
April 24, 2009
End Date:
June 1, 2009
Current Milestone:

  • Improving the content editor. (Switching from the "tiny mce" module to the "FCK" module)

On-going efforts of the Help Center staff:

  • Coordinating with other ASU organizations so that RSS feeds are tagged appropriately - increasing "hits" from searches.
  • Improving the article filtering system (by adding more categories) - so site administrators can find articles more efficiently.
  • Working with other ASU organizations to integrate their help needs with this site.

New Requirement per Adrian Sannier (02/24/09):

  • Inter-activity on Help Center
All Milestones and Schedule:

See Project Plan link for milestones and schedule.

Deliverables:
  • The Help Center will be able to federate content via RSS feeds to and from other ASU organizations.
  • Help Center articles can be matched to multiple articles at the same time.
  • Certain articles can be designated to display only to those that login and have a specific role.
  • The Help Center editor will have the ability to sort articles on multiple column headings.
  • The "Run Cron" process will run once each 24 hour period.  The Help Center editor will retain the ability to run it manually as needed.
