SA - Financial Aid Updates for 2010 - 2011

The Federal Government makes annual changes to financial aid policies. The purpose of this project is to analyze the impact of these changes and make the appropriate adjustments in the PeopleSoft Financial Aid module so that ASU can continue its processes in compliance with these regulations. In addition, ASU may adjust some of the rules and financial aid models. The project will test these adjustments as well.

Accomplishing these tasks will involve a) implementing delivered updates via Oracle “Regs” releases, b) modifying delivered setup to support the new regulations and ASU and c) developing or revising ASU customizations to accommodate the new regulations.

SCLIntra Application - Phase 1 Mail Services Implementation

ASU Mail Services has additional hardware requirements that need to be purchased.  We are in the process of confirming how to acquire that equipment.

ASU Stores wants their implementation to be after ASU Mail Services rather than concurrent and to be treated as a separate project.

In FY08, ASU Stores delivered 46, 317 packages and bulk items; Mail Services provided 37, 245 deliveries.  This project will replace the paper tracking methodology used by ASU Stores and the PacTac Courier System used by Mail Services.

The SCLIntra Enterprise solution utilizes bar code technology to monitor and control the flow of tangible objects such as parcel, property and even personnel as they enter and move throughout and within a warehouse or facility. This application, through the use of bar code technology and robust features, will automate the process of tracking, managing, searching and reporting on the movement of assets. The application will provide signature accountability for receiving, sorting and delivery across the university.

The SCLIntra Application consists of the SCLIntra Web Application, Workstation Client and Mobile Handheld Client.

Streamlining MACS, eAdvisor, Graduation

Develop a method to streamline eAdvisor and mandatory advising to facilitate less confusion for students and advisers with unnecessary holds. Provost's office is receiving feedback that the students are receiving so many holds that they are becoming meaningless. Also, with the Declaration of Graduation advising hold being obsolete, colleges want to apply a graduation readiness check. UTO needs to develop a method of streamlining eAdvisor and mandatory advising so that students aren't bombarded with holds and advisers can efficiently serve all the students needs.

Student Distribution List Improvements

The Exchange Distribution Lists (DL's) for Students are automatically updated using a business process that is no longer accurate. These DL's include students by major code, and students by campus and will often have members that are not registered ASU students.

In this project the UTO would like to make these Student DL's Exchange Dynamic Distribution Lists that are automatically created and populated.

Unlike regular distribution groups that contain a defined set of members, the membership list for dynamic distribution groups is calculated each time a message is sent to them, based on the filters and conditions that you define. When an e-mail message is sent to a dynamic distribution group, it is delivered to all recipients in the organization that match the criteria defined for that dynamic distribution group.

Student Profile

The goal is to create a table or tables to support reporting for student data. This structure will combine many topics, thus avoiding complex and confusing query structures that involve multiple subqueries.

The two most important reasons for creating this are:

  1. It shows a student’s enrolled hours without having to accumulate individual class enrollment hours out of PS ASU STDNT ENRL.
  2. It provides current program plan information without having to go thru the program/plan stacks.

System Health - Network Availability Graphs - Phase II

Develop and implement a mechanism for measuring and reporting network availability on a rolling basis over the last 6 months. Availability graphs will be accessible via a link on the System Health website, the Health Center website, and/or the Dashboards website. Phase two will provide drill down capability to specific network components, and improved loss/latency analytics which better correlate loss/latency to customer experience. It will also provide access to view historic availability.
Resource requirement:

  • 1 - SysHealth Consultant (Care)
  • 1 - Data Collection and Analytics (Ops)
